We were sitting in the living room last night after the kids went down and Jordan brought up a few races coming up and told me to pick one! I’m so excited. I thought the racing season would come to a close without even getting a 5k in. So, in a couple weeks, I’m going to run a half marathon! I’m pumped. I’m also pretty scared, but I’ll be fine.
I have a lot of training to do, but this morning, we decided to go on a family fun run. Well, we didn’t call it that, but it’s what it was. We piled the kids in the car with the stroller, drove to the harbor and ran. It was a path I hadn’t run yet and it took us through town and out towards a neighborhood rich with history and architecture. The water was calm and the sun was bright. It was such a fresh and inspiring 2.5 mile run.
Afterwards, we went to a coffee shop I have been frequenting, Common Grounds. We grabbed some iced lattes and then Jordan had an idea.
“Let’s walk about a mile more, we’re gonna do something fun.”
So, fueled with just enough espresso, we pushed the stroller back around the harbor and made our way to a lighthouse. This is what happened next.
Jordan doesn’t typically run with me. He did it for me today. I’m so glad he did. We made a memory. This is the stuff of life. So, live a little. Get your clothes wet. Send shivers down your spine. Love a lot. Run, even just a bit. Work up a sweat and then jump.
